Description

Stoffels Taxiphyllum Spiky Moss (Low Tech)

The Stoffels Taxiphyllum sp. ‘Spiky Moss’ is a popular aquatic moss known for its spiky, dense growth that adds texture and volume to aquascapes. Its bright green, spiky fronds grow in a branching pattern, making it perfect for filling spaces between hardscape elements like rocks and driftwood or creating bushy accents in the foreground or midground of the aquarium. Grown in-vitro, this moss is delivered free of pests, algae, and contaminants, ensuring a healthy start for your aquarium.

Key Features:

  • Spiky, Dense Growth: Spiky Moss is characterized by its spiky, branch-like fronds, which create a voluminous and textured appearance in aquascapes.
  • Versatile and Easy to Grow: This moss is hardy and grows well in a wide range of conditions, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced aquascapers.
  • In-Vitro Cultivation: Grown in sterile conditions, this moss is free from snails, algae, and harmful pathogens, ensuring a clean and safe addition to your tank.
  • Perfect for Hardscape Accents: Spiky Moss is ideal for attaching to hardscapes such as rocks and driftwood, where it can grow and create natural-looking bushy accents.

Care Requirements:

  • Lighting: Spiky Moss thrives in low to medium lighting, making it perfect for low-tech setups. Higher light encourages denser and faster growth but is not necessary for healthy development.
  • CO2: While CO2 supplementation is not required, adding CO2 can boost growth and make the moss more vibrant and compact, especially in high-tech aquariums.
  • Water Parameters: This moss adapts to a variety of water conditions, thriving in a pH range of 6.0-7.5 and temperatures between 15-28°C. It grows well in clean, nutrient-rich water.
  • Trimming: Regular trimming helps maintain the desired shape and encourages more compact, bushy growth. Trimmings can be reattached to other parts of the tank to propagate.

Planting Tips:

  • Rinse the moss thoroughly to remove the nutrient gel before attaching it to rocks, driftwood, or other hardscape using thread or fishing line.
  • Over time, the moss will naturally anchor to the surface and grow outward, creating a dense, textured effect.
  • Provide moderate water flow to keep the moss clean and free from debris, which can otherwise accumulate in its dense growth.
