API® 5-IN-1 TEST STRIPS are the quick and easy way to test the 5 most important aquarium water parameters – pH, KH, GH, nitrate, and nitrite – in one easy step. Simply dip one test strip directly into the aquarium, and compare the colors on the strip to the color card provided to help prevent invisible water problems that can be harmful to fish. Each kit includes detailed information on how to interpret the test results and correct unsafe water conditions.

It is important for aquarists to provide a healthy aquarium environment by approximating
the water conditions of the natural habitats of their fish. This requires routine water testing
to make sure that conditions are correct for the fish being kept. API 5 in 1 Aquarium Test
Strip s are the quick and easy way to test 5 of the most important measures of aquarium
water quality: General Hardness (GH), Carbonate Hardness (KH), pH, Nitrite (NO2-) and Nitrate
(NO3-). These 5 parameters should be tested weekly, since natural materials in the aquarium,
such as fish waste and decaying food, as well as water changes and evaporation can cause
these levels to shift over time.

Testing Instructions
1. Dip strip directly into aquarium.
2. S WIRL 2 TIMES .
3. R emove horizontally with pads face up.
4. DO NOT SHAKE OFF EXCESS WATER .
5. Compare to the color chart on the tube.
6. Starting with the pad closest to your hand, immediately read General Hardness (GH) and
Carbonate Hardness (KH).
7. Wait 30 seconds, then read pH, Nitrite (NO2-) and Nitrate (NO3-).
