Description

Seachem PhosNet

Seachem PhosNet is a granular ferric oxide (GFO) with high porosity, high surface area and high binding capacity. It will rapidly remove phosphates and silicates from both freshwater and saltwater and will not release them back into your aquarium. It exhibits stronger binding than most competing products and consequently can reduce phosphates and silicates to very low levels. Seachem PhosNet also offers less dust and thus is easier to use than most competing GFO products.

Key benefits
• Rapidly removes phosphate and silicate from aquarium water
• Helps prevent nuisance algae growth linked to excess nutrients
• Porous structure allows efficient water flow through the media
• High binding capacity delivers long-lasting performance
• Suitable for both freshwater and marine use

How to use it
Rinse PhosNet thoroughly before placing it into a media bag or reactor. Position it in an area of high water flow, such as a canister filter or sump, to ensure maximum contact with aquarium water. Monitor phosphate levels and replace the media once it becomes exhausted and no longer reduces nutrient levels effectively.

Compatibility / warnings
Safe for freshwater, marine, and reef aquariums when used as directed. Avoid sudden, drastic phosphate reduction in sensitive reef systems by introducing the media gradually. Do not use simultaneously with phosphate-based fertilisers in planted tanks, as it may remove nutrients needed by plants.

FAQ

Is PhosNet reusable?
No, once the media is exhausted it should be replaced.

Can it be used in a media reactor?
Yes, it works well in reactors and high-flow filter compartments.

Will it affect beneficial bacteria?
No, it targets phosphate and silicate without harming biological filtration.

How quickly does it work?
Phosphate reduction can often be measured within a short period, depending on bioload and nutrient levels.
