RTG Taxiphyllum Taiwan moss (Medium Tech)

RTG Taxiphyllum Taiwan Moss. This compact, fine-leaved moss forms dense, green mats that bring a soft, natural texture to aquascapes. Its hardy growth and versatility make it ideal for attaching to rocks, driftwood, or creating detailed midground and foreground accents.

Instructions:

1. Make sure you understand how to grow aquatic plants:

  • Click/tap >>HERE<< to view our easy guide explaining the needs of aquatic plants.

2. Planting Instructions for RTG Taxiphyllum Taiwan moss:

  • Firstly, remove the moss from any packaging or container.
  • Rinse gently with tap or dechlorinated water to remove any debris.
  • Carefully separate clumps if necessary, taking care not to damage the delicate filaments.
  • Attach the moss to driftwood, rocks, or other decorations using fishing line, thread, or aquarium-safe glue.
  • Avoid compressing or handling the moss roughly to prevent tearing or damaging its structure.

3. Transitioning process

  • This moss will gradually adapt to submersed growth in your aquarium.
  • Provide stable water conditions for best results.
  • Dose a quality aquatic fertilizer as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Ensure adequate lighting for healthy green growth; moderate light is generally sufficient.
  • Regularly trim or prune the moss to maintain shape and encourage dense growth.
  • A CO₂ system can enhance growth but is not strictly necessary.
  • Perform 20–30% water changes weekly to maintain good water quality.
  • Be patient, as moss grows slowly and will gradually cover surfaces in your aquarium.

Care Requirements:

  • Water Parameters:
    Temperature: 20–28 °C
    pH Range: 6.0–7.5
    Water Hardness: 2–12 dGH

  • Nutrient Requirements:
Low-maintenance and undemanding. Thrives under moderate lighting, though higher light promotes faster growth and brighter green coloration. Regular liquid fertilization is optional but can enhance health and vibrancy.

  • Tank Setup:
Perfect for foreground, midground, or attaching to hardscape such as driftwood, rocks, or ornaments. Trim periodically to maintain its growth and prevent overgrowth.

In a few days, after placing your plants in the aquarium you will notice some of the leaves start to melt and fall away.
This means the transition process has started. Please note the plants might look DEAD, but they are fully alive, so do not panic. Also, after a few days you will notice new growth will appear and the plant will fully change its form into submersed growth. You need to continuously trim and put a fertilizer in for the plants to thrive in your aquarium. Two good fertilizers include Easy Life – Profito and Scape Complete. All plants have specific needs but if you follow the general instructions on our labels the plant will transition well and will eventually succeed and prosper in your aquarium.
