Seachem Catappa Tea Bags, sourced from the leaves of the Indian Almond Tree (Terminalia catappa), are the ideal way to replicate the natural environments of Betta fish, shrimp, and other aquarium residents. These tea bags release tannins and organic compounds that help to lower pH levels and subtly tint the water, mimicking the conditions found in habitats with acidic water and abundant leaf litter. They’re perfect for those looking to create a more natural, healthy environment for their aquatic pets. Note: Not for human consumption.

Directions for Use:

1. To Create Extract:
   Boil one tea bag in 1 liter (1 US quart) of water for 10 minutes or until the desired color is achieved. Let the extract cool to room or aquarium temperature.
2. To Add to Tank:
   Gradually pour the extract into the aquarium, or mix with prepared water for water changes. When first using, add the extract slowly over 2-3 days to monitor and ensure the pH remains within a safe range for your tank inhabitants.
3. Alternative Method:
   For a time-release effect, place one tea bag per 40L (10 US gallons) in an external filter (e.g., Seachem Tidal Filter). This will allow a slow, controlled release of the beneficial compounds.
4. Monitoring:
   Keep an eye on pH levels and adjust the quantity of tea bags as needed. Once the desired pH or tinting level is achieved, remove the bags.
   Note: Chemical filtration media, such as activated carbon, can remove the compounds provided by Catappa Tea Bags, so ensure they are not used in combination if you’re aiming for long-lasting effects.
